Christian Bale Batman star visits Aurora Survivors

The Dark Knight Rises actor Christian Bale visited with survivors of the Aurora theater shooting at a Colorado hospital Today(Tuesday).  A gunman opened fired Friday at a screening of The Dark Knight Rises, killing 12 people and wounding 58.  "Mr. Bale was there as himself, not representing Warner Brother," a studio representative told The Denver Post.  Bale, accompanied with his wife, met with seven victioms for over 2 hours.  "The patients were really happy to meet Bale," said Bill Voloch, interim president of the Medical Center of Aurora.

The actor, who has portrayed Batman in all three of director Christopher Nolan's films on the subject, had previously released a statement of condolences.

"Words cannot express the horror that I feel,” he said Saturday. “I can't begin  to truly understand the pain and grief of the victims and their loved ones, but my heart goes out to them.

”Christopher Nolan  (Producer, Writer and Director) stated, "I believe movies are one of the great American art forms and the shared experience of watching a story unfold on screen is an important and joyful pastime.  The movie theater is my home and the idea that someone would violate that innocent and hopeful place is such an unbearably savage way is devasting to me.

The young man in the image above is Carey Rottman, who was shot in the leg during the attack.

On the day of the shooting, Rottman posted this Facebook status: "Shot in the leg at Batman. Where is he when you need him. Please pray for everyone there'.

Amputee Oscar Pistorius set to run in 2012 Olympics

Oscar Pistorius is a South African sprint runner, known as the "Blade Runner" and the fastest man on no legs.  Pistorius, who has a double amputation, is the world record holder in sports, 100, 200, 400 meters events.

The double-amputee runner from South Africa has spent almost all his life without lower legs and his entire track career proving he's good enough to compete with the best. He now has the chance to do just that.

The 25-year-old will be running in London in both the individual 400 and the 4x400 relay -- the first amputee track athlete to compete at any games.

While his selection for the relay team was likely, it was only a surprise last-minute turnaround by South African sports officials on Wednesday that gave Pistorius the chance to run in his favorite event at the Olympics.

South Africa's Olympic committee and national track federation suddenly decided to clear Pistorius for the 400 at the London Games on his carbon fiber blades despite him just missing out on the country's strict qualifying criteria.

They added his name as the last on their team of 125 track and field athletes.

Controversy may still follow Pistorius at the Olympics if there's opposition to him running on his blades in any leg of the relay other than the first. Fears over the safety of other athletes, when runners bunch in the inside lane for the later legs, have been raised.

This is the point about Pistorius: his skill is natural. He has been tearing around on his false pins since he was a hyper-competitive child, turning his hand to everything from boxing to rugby. Now an established international athlete, the only thing that is unusual about him is his extraordinary workload.

Pistorius trains hard everyday wanting to feel that he  trained harder than any of his rivals,  And when he isn’t competing or training, he likes to demonstrate to the rest of us that disability is no bar to achievement. You can do anything you imagine, Just Do it!

Oscar Pistorius has never seen this as a disability. He says, can do things anyone else can do, maybe more. You put on your shoes in the morning, I put on these. And that’s where it ends, that’s the only difference between us.” Well, that and the fact he can run faster than I can drive a car.

Kick- Ass Rising Teen: Chloe Grace Mortez

Article by Samantha Betzag

At just 15 years young, Chloe Grace Mortez is a rising teen queen who is dominating the Hollywood scene.  Chloe - who shot to fame as crime fighting, quick witted, C-bomb dropping daughter of Nicolas Cage in the movie "Kick- Ass". She has just been chosen as Aeropostale's first brand ambassador, as well as a style curator for both in-store and online, has the title role in the upcoming remake of the classic horror film "Carrie", received the 2012 Women in Film's Max Mara Face of the Future Award, and will be in no less than six films in 2013.

Although impressive and quite extensive, her resume isn't the only reason Chloe has caught our eye. The fresh-faced young powerhouse is a positive role model and inspiration to younger girls and teens. The reasons are endless but there are a few that really stand out.

First, Chloe's style, makeup, and actions reflect her age - she embraces that she is a teen and portrays herself accordingly. With her strong love of fashion and new partnership with Aeropostale, Chloe is able to relay her top-notch sense of style into the everyday lives of her fans. This collaboration not only showcases how versatile the star's talents are, but it has also provided teen girls with a back-to-school line that is affordable, fun, flirty, young, and happy - things that Chloe finds most important.

Second, as a young actress, most would expect her to play roles in less serious or mediocre films. But for Chloe, that is not the case. She snagged the number 9 spot on Complex Magazine's The 25 Best Hollywood Actors Under 25. This type of accomplishment is so inspiring to girls because if they have enough passion, drive, and belief in themselves than they can accomplish their dreams - just as Chloe is doing.

Lastly, Chloe's talents aren't the only things that shine - she has a kick-ass personality! And more often than not, we see that is something rare among booming stars today. She is confident and comfortable in her own skin, which is definitely a struggle in your teen years, and girls of all ages can admire her for that. It is important for young girls to have someone close in age who posses these qualities and determination to work hard - and luckily, girls today have Chloe filling those shoes!

Inspiring sisters Jenifer and Sarah Caplan, entrepreneurs created "Footzzyrolls".

How and why the sisters created "Footzyrolls"?

Jenifer and Sarah like so many women would strut in stilettos with heels of all sizes just because it is the latest “must have shoe,” but in reality, they don’t make it very far before feeling the pain. After years of angry boyfriends yelling at them for their early departures from all kinds of event  because their feet just can’t take it anymore, they knew a drastic change needed to be made. It is here where Footzyrolls, the rollable shoe, is born.

In college Sarah carried a large evening bag with an extra pair of shoes for all of the many times her feet started to burn.

After viewing a behind-the-scenes show with Oprah and listening to her suffer and complain about the pain of high heeled shoes, Sarah realized that this problem was widespread for women, and inspired her to do something.  The two of them began to brainstorm together and discuss all of the pain that women feel while wearing heels. Sarah has a Finance background and is currently Vice President at a large financial institution, while Jenifer has a background in Public Relations and Accounting, the sisters used all of their skills to start the company. With all of these talents and skills, and a great idea and vision, the fundamental’s of how their business runs was created. They know that it’s only a matter of time before Footzyrolls, rollable, foldable shoe, will change women's lives forever.

Footzyrolls cost $25 Plus, the $25 includes a bag for your heels and a little pouch for your Footzyrolls.

Nas re-entrance with newly titled album "Life is good"

Nas Escobar, one of Hip-Hops most celebrated MCs is ready to make his re-entrance into the rap game with his newly titled album "Life Is Good." On July 16th, Monday night Moet & Chandon and hip-hop icon Nasir "Nas Jones hosted a 200-person party of Nas' highly anticipated Life is Good album release to initiate the Moet Rose Lounge series in his native city of New York.  The event was hosted at the newly opened Bagatelle in NYC.  Celebrities attended Wale, Jermaine Dupree, Eric Benet , Jay Z and Beyonce.

Nas said," style is timeless. I hear it in a lot of people and it reminds me how timeless it is, the kind of style I do. And once I hit it, and it's right, it's golden. If I'm a little off with it? Ahh, I can't even listen to the song ever again. I'm just trying to perfect it so that it's right and it doesn't sound like I'm just doing something I [already] did. It feels fresh; like this is the first time I'm ever doing it."

Critics have heaped critical praise on Nas ever since his Illmatic debut was deemed a classic back in 1994. But the "Hate Me Now" MC has still been endured his fair share of criticism over the years. And he may be his own worst critic.

Singles from the album: Nasty, "The Don", "Daughters", "Accident Murders" and "Loco-Motive". The highly anticipated album features guest appearances by Mary J Blidge, Rick Ross, Miguel and the late Amy Winehouse.

Feel Da Riddim with dancehall artist "Popcaan"

Put your firefighters on speed dial, because dancehall music oozes sexiness.  Feel Da Riddim ( Feel the Rhythm) with dancehall "Popcaan, the right music for this summer.

Jamaican dancehall deejay born in 1991, July 15 in St. Thomas, Jamaica.Popcaan spent most of his time in school trying to keep focused and trying his best to stay on the right track. Popcaan claims he had a very troubled childhood and was surrounded by violence calling where he grew up was the “Gangsta City”.

At an early age of 7,Popcaan used to preform during school talent shows and after school concerts. Knowing his talent Popcaan thought it was just a pipe dream for him to make it big like such artists such as Buju Banton and Sizzla.

In high school Popcaan started to develop a love for his music and wanted to make a name for himself. Popcaan like many Jamaican youths grow up around gangs and violence. Many of his friends where involved in drugs and many where murdered. Popcaan did his best to move away from the negative aspects of life and focus more on the positive even stating that he was very bad in school.

In 2007 Vybz Kartel noticed his skills at a local jam and recruited the young deejay to his Portmore Empire—becoming both a producer and mentor. Besides showing Poppy the ropes of the music game, Kartel took him on major shows like Sting and Sumfest. Popcaan began making music for Adidjaheim Productions with then in-house producer NotNice, the first person to voice him professionally. Poppy got off to a strong start with “Gal Wine” on the Gal Farm riddim, following up with hits including “It Nuh Work So,” “Jah Jah Protect Me,” “Gangsta City,” “Dream,” " The only man she wants", “Gangsta City

Luxury Hair accessories -Pullezz Ponytail Holders

Interviewed by Tiffany Kirkland

Article by Elaine C Yang

Diana Wright former producer for NY Fashion Week who launched a line of fun, hair-saving ponytail holders called" Pulleez"  hosted a pony bar. The event was held on Tues June 26th and Wed June 27th at Henri Bendel 712 Fifth Avenue, New York City. BWTV  Elaine Yang and Tiffany Kirkland attended the "pony bar"  to meet with Diana Wright to chat about her luxurious pony tail holders "Pullezz"

BWTV: What is the Pony Bar about?

Diana Wright: The Pony Bar is basically done on special occasions, like this one by Henri Bendel. Customers who purchase the Pony can sit down and have their hair styled in one of 4 different ways and experience for themselves why pulleez is a different kind of way to pull up your hair instead of using the traditional hair ties!

BWTV: When did this idea come about?

Diana Wright: I have been a producer for New York fashion week for years and we had used a similar toggle system to put the models’ hair up while we did their make-up and it was just really easy to put in and put out.  Years later I was looking for something similar and it didn’t exist so I made it myself and brought it to Fashion week September 2012 and the models and designers went crazy! It was picked up right away and now we are on Folica! But you can also find us on pulleez.com. -It’s selling great and you can wear it as a bracelet too!

BWTV: What was the process behind the design when it was first created?

Diana Wright: When we first created them, we were experimenting with the different beads from the ends. Now we make the beads exclusively for the product. –Swarovski crystals, Buddhas, skulls, peace signs-- we are working on designs all the time!  We tested to see what was popular-what colors people liked, and here everybody loves a lot of color and a lot of flash! “The more the bedazzle the better!”

BWTV: Can you explain to us what is the function behind the design of the poney?

Diana Wright: Well basically you would slip it onto your hair and then tighten the loop by adjusting the toggle at the end and giving it a tight squeeze. You no longer have to wrap your hand around it--it’s what makes this product unique. It’s a very modern and conventional way then the traditional poney. It also does not stretch out because you no longer have to wrap it around your hair more then once unlike other hair tyes.- It is elastic, so it probably won’t last for 10yrs but it’s more efficient and durable(as it can be washed) then the traditional poney.

BWTV: Has this product been used by celebrities or has it been just for the modern market?

Diana Wright: Nana Meriwether, runner up of Miss USA just wore them in Las Vegas and she loves them! Others include Whitney Port , Ivanka trump, Kimberly Guilfoyle of Fox News!

BWTV: So what was your inspiration for creating the pulleez?

Diana Wright: Well, I never really saw myself creating a product, but when I see something that can be done better it drives me crazy! I always wanted everything to be simple and work functionally so I started it as an experiment and the response was amazing! Just the response and the love of the pulleez from everyone is my motivation to keep going! I never expected it to have such a positive result, and so I will continue with it and hope to make a “Poney Tail Empire!”

BWTV: Would you also consider this to be a benefactor to your hair-- a damage free product?

Diana Wright: Absolutely! Because you can control how loose or how tight you want the pulleez to be, you don’t have to worry about this pulling on your hair or snagging your hair when you take it off!

BWTV: What is the beauty that inspires you? Why do you want to bring this product to women?

Dian Wright: I feel with hair accessories, we are often times limited to something that looks beautiful but feels uncomfortable or vise versa! My goal is to make it beautiful and comfortable, functional and fashionable! This is a great simple product for women of all ages, models loved it in fashion week and kids love this as well! Its important for a beauty product to reach a large age span of women- that for me proves it’s doing something!

Jump In Style with these all in one jumpsuits!

Article by Shantoel McLeod

An ultra chic alternative to a maxi dress, the jumpsuit, whether form fitting or loose—when paired with the right accessories is perfect for summer days or nights. Reminiscent of the disco era, the jumpsuit is more modern (thank God because I doubt most of us can pull of bell bottoms)—sleeker and more polished. Although the jumpsuit is minimal wear, it still makes a splash in bold colors and playful prints. Great for any shape or size, the jumpsuit flatters the desired areas while camouflaging the areas that aren’t.

Tips: For a day look, pair your favorite jumpsuit with a gold cuff, over-size sunglasses and strappy sandal. While for a night look, go bolder with a dazzling sequins print, t-strap heels and a bright clutch.

Summer Romance: Top 10 Date ideas

When planning a date, most guys settle for some variation of the dinner-and-a-movir night. There’s nothing particularly wrong with this strategy. It’s been tested. It’s easy. When taking a woman out on a date, you don’t want to be like most guys; you want to be the guy. So, we’ve assembled this list of top-notch summer date ideas to help you get out of the dinner-and-a-movie rut.  These dates not only for new relationships but also long term and married couples looking to rekindle their relationship.

1. Rooftop Dinner - Deciding where to have your romantic rooftop or skyline date is one of the key elements in planning. Things to take in consideration are privacy, the view of course and access. The stars are still shooting across the sky with no end in sight.

2. Roller Skating - Roller skating is innocent and fun.  It's a great date for women who love to be active. And if she doesn't skate, so what?  Holding hands as you help her stay on her feet is a fun way to spend the dayl

3. Beach - For those romantics, beach date ideas at sunset are right up your alley. When the sun starts to go down, bring a blanket and basket of eats for a picnic. Complement your picnic with a bottle of wine. If you don't drink bring sparkling apple cidar.  Some great eats to pack are cheese, crackers, finger foods such as spring roles, sushi, chicken fingers or maybe some quesadillas.

4.  Local Music show or Lounge - The right music in the right venue can bring good conversation. Don't go anywhere the music is too loud- the emphasis is a mellow environment to spend quality time together.

5. Art Gallery or Museum- A trip to the local art gallery or museum is a great date for the artsy creative girl. It's not bad idea to do a little research on the exhibit beforehand. You want to have knowledge about various art exhibits.

6. Golf- Taking a date to a driving range is another fun outdoors activity. The driving range makes a great daytime date. If she is not a golfer, helping her with her swing is a great opportunity to get up close and personal.

7. Picnic- Bring a few things to eat on a sunny day and host your date in the park or on a waterfront.  Take plenty of napkins and a bottle of wine to wash it all down, then go for a stroll together afterwards.

8.  Comedy Club or Theatre - Your local comedy clubs makes for a great night out. Call ahead to find a nightwhen they have several different comedians to chose from to ensure you that a few of them will make you laugh. Laughter is the best on a date.  The theater is another favorite date idea. Get dressed up and enjoy yourselves. During the intermission, which you'll will have a chance to chat, unlike a movie, where you spend the entire time sitting in the dark.

9. Amusement Parks/water parks- Amusement Parks, theme parks and water attractions can be fun.

10. Sailing-  Rent a boat solo or with several other people on the boat.  Sunset sailing is popular and generally available with a large body of water nearby. Trips average 2 hours and usually include champagne and snacks.

Maria Eitel - "The Girl Effect" Empowering girls around the world

Article by Claudia May

With a boundless base of resources, knowledge, and experience, it is no surprise that Maria Eitel made her way to the top of the Nike pyramid by becoming the first ever Nike VP of Corporate Responsibility, leading up to her becoming President of the, “Nike Foundation”. Graduating with a BA in Communications and French from McGill University and a Masters degree in Foreign Services and International Business from Georgetown University, Maria attained knowledge that would only help her persevere to help impact the world one day. Before Nike, Maria’s experiences ranged from the White House Media Relations to scoring Microsoft’s’ Senior Manager Position for European Corporate Affairs Group. Maria’s various job experiences equipped her with international, political, and entrepreneurial skills which enabled her to create a cause such as the Nike Foundation.

Maria started the Nike Foundation in hopes of finding the symptoms of poverty as well as new found ways that would minimize the continuation of poverty across the nations. After much research and analyzing Maria and the Nike team found what seemed to be the source of global poverty. Maria and her team found that adolescent girls around the world were the key to stopping poverty stating, “When a girl in the developing world realizes her potential, she isn’t the only one who escapes poverty—she brings her family, community, and country with her. It’s a leverage strategy that can’t be beat. That’s why adolescent girls are our exclusive focus.”

Eitel and the Nike Foundations “The Girl Effect” in Ethiopia in 2010

Which was partnered with the NoVo Foundation

With the Nike Foundations new found knowledge, “The Girl Effect” was created, which invests money in girls from all around the world at age twelve so that they can get regularly scheduled doctor appointments, stay in school, and break the cycle of poverty that starts at the age of fourteen; the age at which they can be married off and left with no control over their lives. It’s safe to say that Maria and the Nike Foundation have found a solution to poverty. Not only did they find a solution, but they also formed an empowering message for girls all around the world by creating a gateway that opens their eyes to DREAMING BIG. Check out this video to really get the picture and witness the effect and impact of what investing in a single girl can do:
