Checkers, stripes and safari-like foliage were the patterns du jour this season. Color combinations included a swath of preppy pastels and black/white, with each dress cleverly designed to mimic the look of tailoring. Per usual, Browne incorporated a crème de la crème of suity fabrics – tweed, cashmere, satin, cotton of the highest thread count – and slapped a few quirky touches for good measure (a sequin here, a furry collar there).
Inspired by the goddesses of Greek and Roman history, Marchesa's Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig pulled their spring collection from the heights of Mount Olympus and the depths of Hades—and all of it was glamorous.
Little nipped-waist dresses and peephole-neck jumpsuits in vivid floral prints. And on the other: belted pant suits, a twill trench, and boyish argyle knits. Colors were juicy, like grapefruit pink and lime green, or they were streamlined black, white, and navy.
