Solange released her new album, A Seat at the Table, on Friday. And judging by how people are talking about it on the Internet, it appears to be top music to add to your playlist.
Knowles’ last release was the EP True in 2012.
The youngest sister of Beyonce, the album took the 30-year-old singer almost 4yrs to complete. It boasts 21 tracks written by Solange, with special guests Lil Wayne, Kelela, Q-Tip, The-Dream, Dev Hynes and Kelly Rowland.
In a press release, Knowles described the album as “a project on identity, empowerment, independence, grief, and healing.”
For her 30th birthday Solange mentioned to “Don’t eveeer let anyone write your story for you,” she captioned the post, after giving a timeline of her lifetime milestones. “They can talk, they can doubt, and they can say what they wanna, but only you have the words to narrate this ting we call life. So much gratitude for all of your wishes. So much gratitude for love. So much gratitude for freedom. So much gratitude for life. ”
