The New York based fashion designer, Fotini, drew inspiration for her Spring/Summer 2013 collection from her native Athenian roots and the canvases of several great French painters to create a collection of evening gowns, cocktail dresses and ready to wear pieces fit for a present-day goddess. The atmosphere of the Fotini presentation at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at The Box was whimsical. Potted plants surrounded the sun kissed models and I felt as though I had stepped into the Garden of Eden. Before me stood elegant Eve’s ready to seduce my credit card with the collections’ muted color palette of pinks and floral prints that featured silk chiffons and Chantilly laces in silhouettes that would look flattering on any women.
The designer is featured below wearing one of her silk organza cocktail dresses in her signature wisteria print. She describes her client as a mysterious, graceful woman worthy of a painting by one of the eighteenth century French artists who inspired her collection. Her keen understanding of what women want would guarantee a smile from even Mona Lisa herself.
